Island Transit PROPOSED September 2026 Service Updates
*Please note these service changes must be approved by the Island Transit Board of Directors*
Island Transit has listened. Based on consistent feedback from riders, commuters, employees, students, and community members across Whidbey and Camano Islands, we are moving forward with a series of service improvements effective September 2026. These proposed changes are a second version of the proposed changes after receiving feedback from the public meetings.
For years, our community has asked for improved ferry connections, greater frequency, earlier morning trips, and more dependable service throughout Island County. These changes reflect exactly that- with your voice we shaped this update.
Proposed changes would be effective in September 2026:
Route 1: Weekdays & Weekends Route 1 will run every 30 minutes Monday through Friday, with trips departing at 5 and 35 minutes past each hour between Harbor Station Transfer Center and the Clinton Ferry Terminal. Please note that Route 1 will no longer serve the Bayview area on weekdays or weekends.
Route 60: Weekdays & Weekends Route 60 will run every 30 minutes Monday through Friday, with trips departing at 20 and 50 minutes past each hour between Freeland and the Clinton Ferry Terminal. The Marshview area is now a regular stop on every trip, seven days a week, no advance request needed. All trips will run the full route; shorter versions of Route 60 have been discontinued.
Route 58: Weekdays Route 58 will have expanded fixed-route service running every two hours between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Zone 58 on-demand service continues concurrent with those hours.
NAS Whidbey Island Routes Additional trips have been added across all NASWI services. Route NAS AM adds departures at 5:30 AM and 11:00 AM. Route NAS PM adds a departure at 12:30 PM. NAS Weekend service adds a 7:00 AM departure, providing earlier access to the base on Saturdays and Sundays.
While our Roadmap 2047 Long-Range Plan continues, we are committed to continuing to solicit feedback from the community.
Thank you to everyone who attended meetings, responded online, and emailed us. Your feedback directly shaped the service you will see this September.
YOUR RIDE. YOUR ISLAND. YOUR VOICE.
