Community Advisory Committee
Island Transit is re-launching the Community Advisory Committee (CAC) to provide additional input to agency senior management and Board of Directors. CAC members may recommend improvements to Island Transit’s plans, policies, and services. CAC meetings foster interactive discussions between community members, riders, and agency staff.
The CAC is especially important during our first 20-Year Long Range Transit Plan. Community insight is essential to effective transportation planning, and the CAC will serve as a structured forum for community stakeholders to offer feedback, share perspectives, and engage directly with Island Transit staff as we look to the future.
Membership of the CAC will reflect diverse, inclusive, and a geographically-balanced representation of Island Transit service area on Whidbey and Camano . We encourage members representing organizations and agencies that would bring a new outlook on our services.
The CAC guidelines and application are attached and by request at 360.678.7771. If you would like to be considered, please submit your application to Meg Heppner, Clerk of the Board, at heppner@islandtransit.org. Meetings will be in a hybrid format, allowing for virtual, phone, and in person participation. The deadline for receiving applications is May 8, 2026.
The CAC is an advisory body. Recommendations by the CAC are advisory only and do not constitute an action, directive, or obligation by the Island Transit Board of Directors or any agency employees. The CAC is not authorized to act as an agent of Island Transit or to contact or incur any obligations on behalf of Island Transit.
If you have questions, comments, and/or concerns, you may call 360-678-7771; or email comments to heppner@islandtransit.org
