Melinda Adams

Executive Director, Island Transit


Melinda Adams brings more than 18 years of experience in public transportation leadership, currently serving as Island Transit’s Executive Director. Prior to Island Transit, she served as the Transportation Services Manager and Acting Director at Everett Transit. Her career has included everything from managing complex capital projects and regional transportation programs to overseeing grants, compliance, communications, and customer service.


Melinda has more than 15 years of workforce development experience and prides herself on being employee focused. “Leadership begins with an investment in your people, focusing on their development to achieve the highest results for your organization and provide the highest level of service to your community."


A proud Island County resident, Melinda has served on the Regional Transportation Operators Committee, the Snohomish County Public Information Officer Group, and the Puget Sound Transit Executives Mobility Partnerships. Currently she is on the Executive Board of the Island Regional Transportation Planning Organization (IRTPO), the Washington State Transit Insurance Pool Board, and the Washington State Transit Association Board. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and is well-versed in guiding organizations through growth, innovation, and the occasional curve-ball!
