Ride Beyond the Gate
The Navy Bus Service is now a fixed route, making it easier and more reliable to get around without a car.
Island Transit is fare‑free and open to everyone, giving you simple access to shopping, food, parks, and off‑island connections.
Ride to the NEX, head downtown, explore Whidbey Island’s beaches and trails, or connect to routes that take you as far as Mount Vernon.
No fare. Just show up and ride.
How to Take the Bus: Step by Step
1. Find Your Stop: Look for Island Transit bus stop signs along the route. Arrive a few minutes early.
2. Check the Schedule: Buses run on set times. Schedules are available online and at many stops.
3. Board the Bus: Enter through the front door when the bus arrives. There is no fare to pay.
4. Ask for Help if Needed: If you’re unsure where to get off, tell the driver your destination. They’re happy to help.
5. Signal Your Stop: Pull the cord or press the stop button when your stop is next.
6. Exit Safely: Exit through the rear door when possible.
